Brownback to Announce his run Jan 20

Sam Brownback, Republican Senator from Kansas, is set to announce his run for the Presidency in his home state on January 20. This announcement will come just 6 weeks after he launched a Exploratory Committee in December.

Brownback is serving his second term as a Senator, having served briefly in the House between 1994 and 1996.

As a strong social conservative, Brownback will be running heavily on family values, having declared that the institutions of the "...family and the culture—are under withering attack.".

Brownback has a solid record on important social issues that will appeal to the conservative, or religious right of the Republican party, opposing all forms of abortion and banning same sex marriage. Although he has little recognition outside of Kansas, he does have the opportunity to capture this conservative vote in the nomination process.

Brownback completes the package by being economically conservative, and just days ago signed the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge", alongside another possible candidate Mitt Romney.

Although he is an outsider, in this race, anything is possible, particularly if the conservative wing of the Republicans give Brownback their support.
